OnePlus 5T is here and it’s the smartphone to look out for this Holiday season. OnePlus 5T is a solid phone and the best you can buy for under $500. Sure, there are better phones out there but for the money, it is really really hard to beat the OnePlus 5T. Here are Top 10 Reasons to buy the OnePlus 5T over its competitions.
The thing to love about OnePlus has to be the number of features their phones provides to its customers without them having to break the bank. While OnePlus 5T is cheaper than almost all its competitors, it doesn’t fare worse in anyways. Let’s check out the Top 10 features that will wow you. The OnePlus 5T has 2 features that stand out over its predecessor, the OnePlus 5: the Camera and Display. But that’s not. There a lot more to the phone than just two of these new features. Let’s check out the Top 10 features that will wow you. Also, you can check out the best cases for the OnePlus 5T here.
1) Excellent Display
You knew this one was coming, right? The OnePlus 5T solves one of the biggest let-dower feature of the OnePlus 5: the display. While the display on the OnePlus 5 wasn’t bad in any way, it wasn’t up to the 2017 flagship mark. No, I am not complaining about the 1080p screen resolution but the big bezels surrounding it.

Gone is the old 16:9 aspect ratio 1920x1080p AMOLED display. Instead what we get now is an excellent 2:1 aspect ratio 2160x1080p AMOLED display. Not only do we get a slight resolution bump but the company has put in a higher quality AMOLED panel on the phone. The 2:1 aspect ratio also means that the phone looks up-to-date and can go well against the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the iPhone X and for way less money.
2) Top of the line Hardware
OnePlus is known for packing very powerful internals on their phones. The OnePlus 5T is no different. In fact, you will find the top of the line specs inside the phone. The specs of the OnePlus 5T includes:
- 6″ 2160*1080p Amoled Display
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC
- Adreno 540 GPU
- 6GB/8GB of RAM
- Dual Camera setup 20MP+20MP setup
- 64GB/128GB Storage
- Headphone jack
- 3300mAh battery
There’s probably not going to be anyone who will complain about the raw specs of the OnePlus 5T. It’s really good. Also, unlike most of the new phones, the OnePlus 5T still houses the 3.5mm headphone jack. The use of the best internals sure is one of the reasons to buy the OnePlus 5T.
What you don’t get, however, is the water-resistance and wireless charging. Let’s hope OnePlus 6 will pack in those features.
3) Super-Fast Fingerprint Scanner
OnePlus 5 had one of the fastest fingerprint scanners on the market. While the OnePlus 5T isn’t any faster, it’s still one of the best fingerprint scanners there is. It’s good to see fingerprint scanners as good as on the OnePlus 5T when new $1000 phones (ahem Apple) don’t have them at all.
4) Excellent Camera
The camera on the OnePlus 5 was no slouch. It was one of the better dual-camera phones out there but it wasn’t the best. I did use the OnePlus 5 for more than 4 months and I have to admit, there are better dual-camera systems out there.
I have used the OnePlus 5T for only a few hours now and I can’t really comment on how much improved the new sensor on the camera is but I like what I see as of now. The new and revised camera has to be one of the top features in this list of Top 10 reasons to buy the OnePlus 5T.

There’s a bump in the specs department too with the OnePlus 5T having a 20MP+20MP setup on the rear. Earlier it was 16MP+20MP setup. Also, the primary rear camera now has a wider f/1.6 aperture which will have better results in low-light.
5) Dash-Charge Technology for Fast Charging
The dash-charge tech is here and it is the fastest charging solution out there. It’s much better in terms of charging, power and heat management than solutions like Quick Charge 3.0/4.0 and Apple’s USB-C charging.
A days’ worth of power in half an hour
The company says that its dash-charge technology is so good that it hasn’t yet thought about wireless charging. I can’t really swallow that but the system is good enough that I really don’t miss wireless charging.
6) Good design
The OnePlus 2 had a really good design. The OnePlus 3 and 3T looked good and the OnePlus 5 looked a little too much like the iPhone 7/8 Plus. But it looked good. The OnePlus 5T looks better from all angles. I especially like the way it looks from the front.
The small bezels on the front of the phone look amazing and the phone looks premium and the heft makes you feel like you are carrying a quality product.
7) Excellent battery life
The OnePlus 5 had one of the best battery life when comparing it to the flagships of 2017. The OnePlus 5T boasts the same 3300mAh battery which outperforms the battery endurance of the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, Galaxy Note 8 and even the Google Pixel 2 XL. Not only does the OnePlus 5T charge fast, but the charge also lasts much longer than its competition.

The OnePlus 5T can easily last you a day and if you happen to be a moderate user, the phone will last much longer, probably for 2 days. Battery life definitely is one of the Top reasons to buy the OnePlus 5T.
8) It still has 3.5mm headphone jack
If it was 2016, having a 3.5mm headphone jack wouldn’t be big of a reason to include in this list of Top 10 Reasons to buy the OnePlus 5T but in 2017, it definitely is! The phone comes with standard 3.5mm headphone jack and it undoubtedly is a big deal especially if you have lots of good wired headphones lying around.
9) It costs under $500
Look, no matter how good a product is, if you can’t afford it, it’s the end of the story. Luckily, you don’t need to spend a fortune to buy the OnePlus 5T. You can get the OnePlus 5T for just $499 and it’s a worry every penny. If anyone asks me which phone is the best for under $500, OnePlus 5T is what I recommend them, no questions asked!
There’s really no competition for the OnePlus 5T especially since it has received so many updates from the OnePlus 5 with very less bump in price. If you have got the cash, get this phone, no questions asked!
10) The Software
There’s always this iPhone guy coming up to the Android users and saying, “Your phone doesn’t get updates. They are slow, laggy and not very secure.” While hearing that boils the temperature inside of me, it kind of is true. Apple products get software updates for much longer and they get updated on a regular basis.
But the OnePlus 5T is different. The phone runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box (which is the latest version of Android). Also, unlike many Android phones, the 5T has near-stock Android experience which is lag-free and mostly bug-free. Overall, you will be more than pleased with the software experience of the OnePlus 5T. It has to be one of the best reasons to buy OnePlus 5T.
The Verdict: Top 10 Reasons to buy the OnePlus 5T
OnePlus 5T is a phone hard to beat. Not only is the hardware great, but the software experience is also just as promising. At prices starting at $479, it’s really hard to find a phone as good as the OnePlus 5T.
Ask this question to yourself, would you rather get 2 OnePlus 5T (One for you and one for your girlfriend or even your mother) or buy one iPhone X for yourself and yourself alone?
If you are looking for a new phone, it’s really easy to recommend the OnePlus 5T. The phone is really really good and well worth your money.
