Samsung Galaxy S8: Best phone on the planet?

The Samsung Galaxy S7 was a beautiful phone and it was well received. It was a great combination of style, build, great display, functionality and one of the best camera. True, it has some gimmicky features which were somewhat not-very-useful, but it was a great phone, nonetheless.  Anyways, no matter how good is was, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is so last year now! With new year, we expect to see a new flagship from Samsung and it should be better than the last one. And since the announcement for the new phone is near, there are a lot of rumors and leaks of what the phone is going to be. And with so many such rumors in the air about the Galaxy S8, I can’t help but wonder about the Samsung Galaxy S8: Best phone on the planet?

Well, the Galaxy S8 isn’t here yet, so, in my view the title of the best phone on the planet should go to the Google Pixel XL! But it’s a title, and it can be stolen! So, let’s check out what the rumors about suggest, and see if the upcoming flagship really deserves the title. However, let me be clear that these are just rumors and they may or may not be true. Nevertheless, we can speculate about what the Galaxy S8 will be based on these tit-bits.  So, let’s see what the rumors say about the phone in Samsung Galaxy S8: Best phone on the planet?

Samsung Galaxy S8: What’s in the Name?

The flagships from Samsung have always come with the name Samsung Galaxy S-(series), and the Galaxy S- saw the Edge with the coming of Galaxy S- Edge. But some new rumors suggest that this isn’t going to be so for the upcoming phones. Sure, there will be two models, but they’ll be known as Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus! It probably has to do with the compensation for disposal of the Galaxy Note series. But let’s just hope that this will be limited to rumors because I, personally, happen to like the name. But hey, what’s in the name? Let’s move on with Samsung Galaxy S8: Best phone on the planet?

Samsung Galaxy S8: Design and Build

The phrase “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” doesn’t really work for phones. A phone’s build and appearance must be appealing at first and the Samsung flagships seem to always nail it. The metal and glass designs on the S6 and S7 were really a sight to see. And since they were liked by many, the build may not change for the Galaxy S8 as well. The S7 was IP68 Certified for Dust and Water resistance and the S8 will be too. But don’t expect to see many changes on the build of the phone though. Except that the S8 is likely to share the curved edges of the Edge series. This means that the Galaxy S8 might look similar to the S7 Edge and since there’ll be two phones, they’ll just come in different sizes with the same design.

Samsung-Galaxy-S8-Best-phone-on-the-planetThe build might be the same, but the design of the Galaxy S8 is going to be awesome! Samsung’s decided to drop the physical home button on the bottom of the phone and fill it with more screen! The home button features will be embedded on the screen itself. How cool is that? Now, this will give you a phone that has a 90% screen-to-body ratio. The home button including the fingerprint sensor will be gone. Instead, it will be use the Optical Sensor that’ll reside beneath the display. And THAT is going to be an awesome piece of tech!

With this, the phone is going to be nearly bezel-less. And after the likes of Xiaomi Mi Mix, we’d like to see such on Samsung flagships that have even better displays on. Watching videos and playing games on it will be such a treat. It’s just so much fun thinking about it, so, it’s gonna be better when it’s actually out!

With most new phones moving on to USB-C, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will sport the same too. But the rumors suggest that just like the iPhone and some other newcomers, the S8 is ditching the 3.5 mm headphone jack too!  It might come with an adapter in the box for the headphone jack, but another leak suggests that the headphone jack is staying. This comes from a leaked image of a phone case for the phone which includes a port for the jack as well. This is something of a serious concern, and let’s hope this will be limited to rumors only.

Samsung Galaxy S8: Display

The Samsung flagships always have one of the best displays around. With high enough resolutions and clear quality picture colors, Samsung’s flagships’s displays are one of the reasons to buy those phones. Now, imagine that high-res screen with a big bezel-less body. That’s exactly what you’re going to get with the new Samsung Galaxy S8. Rumors have it that the S8 will bump their current resolution of 2560 x 1440 to a super 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. But some other rumors claim that this isn’t happening and the S8 will sport the same Super AMOLED 2K display. But considering that they are going bezel-less with a 90% screen-to-body ratio, the bump up in the resolution might just be so.

Samsung-Galaxy-S8-Best-phone-on-the-planetThere have been number of rumors about the display sizes, though. Some sources say that the size of the phone will jump to a 5.7″ for the smaller one and 6.2″ for the larger one. This suggests that the phone is on it’s way to become a phablet, most likely to appeal to the Galaxy Note users. But it can be a put off for others. However, SamMobile suggests that the phone sizes will stay at 5.1″ and 5.5″, but both of them with a curved screen. The curved design adds to the beauty of the Galaxy S8. This makes sense and this will a heck of a display with the 4K resolution and a bezel-less screen.

Samsung Galaxy S8: Camera and Battery

Samsung flagships always come with killer cameras! In fact, their cameras are one of the main attractions of these devices. And I’m sure, in the coming Galaxy S8, they won’t disappoint. Some sources claim that Samsung is working on a new camera between 18 to 24 Megapixels, but it may or may not link to the Galaxy S8. Also, there are rumors suggesting that the new Samsung flagship will sport a 30 MP rear camera. This seems to far-fetched and maybe even futile, even for a phone like the S8.

Samsung-Galaxy-S8-Best-phone-on-the-planetMore realistic rumors suggest that the S8 will have a Dual Lens Camera, just like the Huawei P9 and the iPhone 7. It suggests that the lenses will be of 12 MP and 13 MP and will have the similar Dual Pixel technology of the S7. The aperture will be increased to f/1.4 which will allow better lighting and better pictures. So, it seems that Samsung doesn’t intend to stop improvements in the camera department. And that’s a good thing too! The front snapper might be an 8 MP shooter most likely, and with autofocus!

Now, in Samsung Galaxy S8: Best phone on the planet? let’s talk about the battery. With a bigger screen and more pixels, the S8 will need more battery power. And so, there are leaks suggesting a 4200 mAh battery on the phone. But since this could lead to increase in the phone size, we can’t be sure. One thing is for sure, though. The battery in the Galaxy S8 won’t explode like that of the Note 7!

Samsung Galaxy S8: OS, Platform & Hardware

Now, let’s speculate about the hardware and software in Samsung Galaxy S8: Best phone on the planet? With improvements on a phone, come improvements to the hardware and software. It’s very likely that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature a 6 GB RAM, according to most of the sources. Some sources even boast that it’ll have 8 GB RAM, but looking at the present trends, it’s most likely that 6 GB RAM is the one it’ll have. Also, the S8 will run on a 3.2 GHz Snapdragon 830 SoC. Also, Samsung does have it’s own chipset for the S8 in the works, an Exynos 8895. These two chipsets might be available for different regions. And some other rumors suggest an NVidia GPU on the phones. Imagine that!

In addition, some sources claim that there will be upto 256 GB storage standards starting from 64 GB. And, it might also have a microSD card slot. That means, it’ll have more than enough storage for your medias and stuff on your phone. Isn’t that great?

Of course, we shouldn’t expect to see stock Android on Samsung phones. The Samsung Galaxy will be running on Android 7.0 (Nougat) with the TouchWiz skin on top. Let’s hope that the TouchWiz experience get’s better this time around. Furthermore, we can expect to see Galaxy Viv on the Galaxy S8. Now, this is a personal assistant AI just like Siri, but much better! And the phone is even rumored to have a dedicated launch button for the Galaxy Viv. Just imagine the things you’ll be able to do with it!

Samsung Galaxy S8: Conclusion

So, now let’s move on to the conclusion in Samsung Galaxy S8: Best phone on the planet?

The Samsung Galaxy S8 will most likely have a badass curved design on the same lovely metal and glass build. Also, it’ll have a bigass high-res screen on a minimal bezel screen that’ll be sweet for watching media stuff. In addition, with the likely addition of NVidia Graphics, gaming on it will be hardcore. With this, Samsung’s Gear VR is going to be fantastic! The cameras will be even better than before. You’ll be able to fit much more with it’s huge storage. Furthermore, the Exynos 8895 or the 3.2 GHz Snapdragon 830 chipset combined with 6 GB RAM will ensure the smoothest of performance. Finally, the Galaxy Viv will make things easier and more convenient for you. What else could you ask for? Well, apart from a good enough battery, I guess.

So, is Samsung Galaxy S8: Best phone on the planet? Well, it features so many amazing specs, now all will come down to it’s price. If we can get it for the right price, it might just be the best. But even if the price is a little high, the Samsung Galaxy S8 might still be the best phone on the planet after it launches.

So, this was Samsung Galaxy S8: Best phone on the planet? I almost think it can be after it’s release. What do you guys think? If you’re a Samsung fan, then you’ll probably agree.
