The Google Pixel XL 2 has a lot of things going for it. But is it enough for being the best of the best? Well, it’s difficult. Really really difficult. For one, there are extremely good smartphones from leading manufacturers like the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ and now the Galaxy Note 8, LG G6 and the LG V30, iPhone 8, 8+ and the upcoming iPhone X. They are all great smartphones and have both really good software and hardware features.
Sure, people were expecting the Google Pixel XL 2 to launch at a price lower than $849. Hence the Sticker shock: Google Pixel 2 XL worth $849 price tag? Well, if you ask me, the phone really isn’t worth the extra cash. For one, you can get the Samsung flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S8 for under $600 and the Note 8 can be have had for under $900. At such prices, these phones are really hard to beat.
In addition to that, LG V30 may be another phone you may want to have a look at it. It costs less than the Google Pixel XL 2 and has much more features. For instance, it has got two cameras at the back, one of them being wide-angle. The Go-Pro like look of the LG V30 Wide Angle lens is a winner! In addition to that, the phone is made for people who do just calling and texting on their phone It is a multimedia powerhouse. For content creators, there’s probably no other phone that offers as much as the LG V30 does.
Don’t get me wrong. For some, the sticker price of $849 for the base 64GB variant and $949 for the 128GB variant may be well worth it but for most, it’s best to look elsewhere. There’s only one thing that Google Pixel 2 has to offer that other phones just can’t match and it’s the software experience. But mind you, the flagships from Samsung and LG are flagships too. The software on the Pixel XL 2 in most part will make its way into the Galaxy and the LG phones.
